Dirk Nauta got the idea of taking part in the
Whitbread race after he arrived with the " Mister van Schaik (director of the Dutch daughter of
the design kitchen manufacturer "Tielsa") who was an enthusiastic
sailor himself signed as main sponsor of the project. After the Whitbread race the Tielsa was sold to Jaap Bosma who sailed is as a charter ship between Agadir en de Canary islands. After this the Tielsa had a less pleasant time on the
shore as you can see on these pictures below. Fortunately a new owner brought the Tielsa back on the oceans after it had been repainted, renovated interior and fitted with a new engine. On the pictures below can you see how the Tielsa is nowadays.
The present owner Dick Ton is adapting the ship to his own ideas to sail with it round the world once again.
